One of the key Soft skill for a microwave engineer to have is initiative. To oversee the planning, design, implementation and optimization of the transmission, IP and fixed access networks. To coordinate all design activity in respect of the transmissions network, IP network and fixed access networks. To project manage all expansions to the transmissions network, IP network
and fixed access network and ensure that contractors comply with agreed-upon KPIs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conductplanning of the transmission, IP and fixed access networks
- Manage the implementation of the Transmissions network, IP and fixed access network Planning and Optimization.
- Implement the expansion of the Transmissions network,IP network and fixed access network to maximize coverage and service delivery to all customers
- Ensurethe expansion of the radio access network in line with the expansion
- Providehigh quality service based on the SLA agreements and performance standards
- Respondtimeously to transmissions network, IP network and fixed access network disruptions that cause a loss of coverage to determine potential causes of network outages
- Monitorperformance of the Transmissions network, IP network and fixed access network through
- Servicemonitoring and available statistics to determine means in which the Transmissions network, IP network and Fiber access network may be upgraded or expanded to improve service and
- Manage the Transmissions network, IP network and fixed access network Planning and Optimization
- inventoryto ensure company property is accurately recorded and that Transmissions network, IP network and Fiber access network Technicians have the requisite tools at their
- Prepareintroduction of new Transmissions network, IP network and fixed access network elements and expansion plans to meet service level objectives
- Validate Transmissions network, IP network and fixedFiber access network designs prepared by RAN Planning and Optimization teams.
- Manage the Transmissions network, IP network and fixed access network Planning and Optimization team outputs and the performance of individual team members.
Academic background & Professional Knowledge Required
- Bachelor of Science University Degree in Telecommunication Engineering/Electrical and Electronic engineering or other relevant field.
- Eight or more years’ experience in transmissions network, IP network and access network
- engineering of which two or more years should be in management.
- Professional certification in Project Management g. PMP, Agile, Prince2 preferred
Technical Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of transmissions network (IP/MPLS & Optics) planning and implementation.
- Experience in operating in a multivendor environment.
- Proficiency in using NCE, SAM, NFM-P/T planning and monitoring tool
- Knowledge of IP/Tx Features/Roadmaps/equipment lifecycles
- Knowledge of GSM/WCDMA and LTE mobile network concepts
